This is a rebate program offered for the installation of solar systems. It allows homeowners to get a rebate on installing a solar system with a minimum size of 1 kW DC at $1,000. It will greatly assist in offsetting the upfront cost of installing solar panels, which may be challenging for many residents. The program was established as the Customer Solar Grant Program by the Maryland General Assembly passage of 2024 S.B. 783 known as the Brighter Tomorrow Act of 2024, and it will improve access to the benefits of solar energy to help ensure that no Marylander is left behind in the clean energy transition. The plan is to increase the accessibility of solar energy among all Marylanders for a clean and sustainable future. By using this rebate the house owners can cut back significantly on financial barriers to using solar energy. The program forms part of broader efforts by the state of Maryland to increase the adoption of renewable energy sources.
